Turtle sadness

I don't know why my female long neck turtle past the way in winter, I am very concerned and curious? Just wondering do you think you know why? Did I do something wrong? I don't want to do the same mistake...

Brankica: I am sorry to hear that about your turtle but I can't even guess without some additional info. Where have you been keeping her, the temperature of the environment, the diet...

You can always check out the pet turtles section on this website and see how to handle pet turtles.

Turtle: habitat, diet
by: Bianca

My female long neck turtle was called TINY...
i dont know its temp but i know it was a pretty cold winter. It was only 1 and a half years old. It lived with my other male turtle which was apparently 8 years older. They would always snatch for food together. The types of food i feed them is small fish, dried shrimps, blood worms and wardly turtle pellets.I am hoping you can find out why it died?

Trying to answer...

Bianca,
pet turtles usually need warm environment and water. In the winter, if they are not hibernating, they need warmth.

Since you have a 8 years old turtle that lives in the same conditions and is still alive, I am thinking either Tiny was too young and unprepared to go through the cold winter, or it just got sick from something.

Seems like, besides the temperature, they had a nice home and you take good care of them.

Cold is what usually gets them
by: Brankica

Maybe the changed conditions got to her. If this was her first winter in the cold that could have been the main reason.
