Parakeet breast swollen

My parakeet has a swollen breast area. What could this be?

Marlene, with no info on how it looks, when it started, how the parakeet is behaving, if he/she hit the area, I can't help much.

If parakeet is a female there could be some serious reasons for this change. Of course, no matter what gender your parakeet is, this sounds like a serious matter.

I would strongly suggest for you to visit an avian vet and get this checked out.
