I have a guinea pig gender question.
I am thinking of getting two guinea pigs for my kids. I don't want population explosion. Should I have two males? Two females? One of each with the male castrated?
Neutering and spaying is the best thing you can do for your pets. That way you don't have to worry about the guinea pig's gender.
If you are not sure about spending money on that, you can always adopt a guinea pig that will already be neutered or spayed. See available guinea pigs for adoption.
If you decide to go to a pet shop and buy two guinea pigs, then you definitely want the same sex pets.
So the same sex pair will be a good solution. I have two female guinea pigs and they get along great although I have heard before that two males can get along even better.
Still, my choice would always be adoption.
