I have a female, short haired chihuahua that I believe is 5 to 6 years old. She sheds an unbelievable amount.
I was advised to brush her daily, which I have, but it isn't helping. I also changed her food to Science Diet because I was told that a food with Omegas 3 and 6, Vitamin E and zinc would help but it hasn't. I'm at my wits end...please advice!

I am sorry to say that I am no dog expert but I will try to give the best advice possible.
With excessive dog shedding the safest thing you can do is take the dog to the vet. Or you can just ask a vet online.
If the shedding started suddenly and it looks too unusual to you, there can be many reasons for it.
In case you don't want to try a vet, maybe you can find some good advice at the Puppy Dog Place, where they give tips on dog hair loss and shedding. Hope this will help some.
